Photo Manipulation and Ethics
- Some of the main points in the article talked about how there was a common rule and standard amongst photographers and graphic design professionals. This common rule meant that you should keep photos true to their original intent. Many people slightly edit photos to make the subject seem more appealing, however people also take pictures completely out of context and make some people look worse on purpose. These kinds of people believe that these common standards don't apply to them.
- The Washington Post and NewYork Times newspapers give their photographers specific guidelines so that all the photographs that they publish are ethical.
- I think that editing a picture to make someone look better or to take out mistakes in photos. I also think cropping certain things out of photos is ok because it can make the entire picture look better.
4. I think this was the most unethical picture because the made out the school to be something it isn't. Inserting a black person from a different picture to make the school seem more diverse is racist and shows how the school was advertising itself as something it isn't.
5. I think this picture was the most ethical because they didn't try to make the picture anything that it wasn't. They were still showing the same thing and only made a mistake with the proportions. Since this mistake was on such a small scale and caused no harm to anyone, this is still an ethical picture.
