Extra Credit
1) The man who fell onto the subway tracks was named Ki Suk Han. He was pushed by a man who had been harassing passerby when Ki Suk Han tried to calm him down. The photographer claimed that he tried to flash the train conductor with his camera by taking pictures.
2) The photographer, R. Umar Abbasi, claimed that he tried to flash the train conductor with his camera by taking pictures.
3) I don't think that the photo should have been taken because I believe the photographer could have helped Ki Suk Han.
4) I think that what the photographer did was better than nothing but I think he still did the wrong thing. He should have at least tried to help him.
5) I don't think the photo should have been the over of the New York magazine because Ki Suk Han's family has to see it and it is disrespectful to his family and friends. It is a disturbing image of a man about to die and that shouldn't be shown everywhere.
6) I think that capturing these crazy pictures might be better for the photographer economically but being a good person and citizen should come before money and they should do the right thing and help the person in need.
7) I think that photographers should get involved into these situations because it is very important to help those in need. I think that these pictures are important to have to remember tragedies but only when the person taking the picture can't do anything. Like on 9/11, it was important that we took a lot of pictures but that was ok because the people taking the pictures couldn't have just gone into the buildings and saved everyone.
8) I don't think photographers should influence certain situations. Like in nature documentaries, the photographers shouldn't intervene to save and animal because that is a natural thing in the wild and it would be harmful to interfere. However if a photographer has the opportunity to save a person they should always take that opportunity rather than getting the pictures.
9) I think that the photographer should just be honest and say that he wanted to take pictures of the event instead of trying to lie and say that he tried to help out and just happened to take the pictures.
